Don’t count on seeing much of Thirteen on House this season.
According to series creator David Shore, Olivia Wilde—who took a leave of absence this fall to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys and Aliens—will be gone for more than just a handful of episodes.
“It’s going to be a while unfortunately,” sighs series creator David Shore. “We love her but it is going to be a while. It’s going to be this season, but well into this season.”
The news comes as Wilde’s movie career is heating up big-time. The actress has four films in the pipeline (Cowboys and Aliens included), and recently signed a deal to join Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in the body-swapping comedy The Change Up.
Shore says Wilde’s Change Up shooting schedule won’t further delay her return to Princeton Plainsboro. “She called us up and said she wanted to do [The Change Up],” he explains. “And it just so happened that what we had worked out storyline-wise allowed her a couple of extra episodes [off]. So that movie just filled in the gap. There were no further adjustments to her schedule as a result of that.”
Bottom line: Enjoy Thirteen’s appearance in tonight’s House premiere, because it’s the last one you’ll be getting for a while.

Q: How did shooting the love scene go? i assume hugh and lisa were utmost professional?
A: completely professional - as was the crew - it actually can get kind of awkward for all the reasons you can imagine
I actually feel uncomfortable being on the set for that stuff - have to get over that
I am highly confident that the show will go for at least an 8th season - beyond that, lots of contractual issues (which could be resolved but they're out there)
Cuddy's assistant has not been back - could happen but hasn't yet
Q: What about House?
A: we want him to be happy - in theory
I decided this was a different enough med show since it's really about people, not medicine
we're doing a few more clinic beats this year than last - it's something we unfortunately lost a bit once we started doing a few more personal moments
Hugh has a similar sense of humor to the character (and to me - which is delightful for me)
Q: wow... cuddy has a sexy back. (and front, for that matter).
A: I know that wasn't a question, but yes she is sexy
no spin offs yet - we keep talking about it but...
no plans re surgery on leg - though it is also something we discuss semi-frequently
Q: is house still seeing his therapist?
A: I think he is still seeing the therapist (but Andre Braugher is on another show)

A: her mom is watching her - pretty sure that was mentioned quickly
Q: Will Mr, Laurie be directing an episode again this season? He did fantastic last season.
A: Hugh was going to direct but now he isn't unfortunately - schedule is crazy
Q: I know you think House is generally unhappy, but don't you think he has a chance to end the series on a happy note?
A: happy ending? have you been watching this show?
this season... as you'll hopefully see and hopefully agree... I like the fact that we've put House in a relationship but kept House House - we're exploring relationships but having fun - which is fun for all - fun, fun, fun.

Ausiello: Prepare to loathe me forever: There are no immediate plans for Chris Conner (Bones, The Assistants) to be back.
Question: Just out of curiosity, do you think House and Cuddy really have a fighting chance to make it as a couple? —Erin
Ausiello: If they can survive the arrival of Cuddy’s mother (as played by Candice Bergen), then I’m pretty sure they can survive anything. “House is going to meet her mom and she is a handful,” explains series creator David Shore. “It’s always nice to have House come up against people with whom, whether he likes to admit it or not, he has something in common. They’re not the same person, but there are parallels—and they’re not attractive parallels.” Bonus scoop: In next Monday’s episode, look for Cuddy to go to great, um, lengths to prove to Wilson that she is indeed dating House.
